Meet Gopi Nadella, Gloves for Grief Board Member

Gopi, a career military attorney, retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy in January 2025 after 20 years of distinguished active-duty service.

His service encompassed diverse assignments both abroad, ashore, and afloat. Notably, he served as the Command Judge Advocate for the U.S.S. DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER during consecutive combat deployments. Additionally, he held Instructor duties at the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, and served as the Maritime Law Advisor to the Attorney General of Palau.

His final assignment in the Navy was as the Officer in Charge for the Region Legal Service Office Southwest Detachment Ventura. In this role, he spearheaded the provision of legal services across three Naval Stations in Southern California, served as the principal legal advisor to Naval Base Ventura County, and held the position of Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California.  

He recently began work as a Hearing Representative at Gale, Sutow, and Associates and began his own private consultancy firm focused on the provision of maritime legal expertise in the National defense space.

Originally from Copley, Ohio, Gopi earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, in 2001. After college, he pursued legal education in Baltimore, Maryland, at the University of Maryland School of Law, where he graduated in 2004 with a Juris Doctor.

Gopi’s commitment to professional development led him to the Naval War College in 2017, where he earned a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies. In 2024, he further enhanced his leadership skills by graduating from Ventura County Leadership Academy’s Cohort 29.

Committed to volunteer service, Gopi serves as a Director on the Board for Ventura County Leadership Academy, a non profit focused on connecting peoples and issues and strengthening Ventura County. He also serves as a Board Member for Gloves for Grief, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and healing opportunities for individuals grappling with grief. Gopi is excited to be part of an organization focused on helping others heal and grow as they live through grief.

Gopi lives in Oak View, CA. He is a passionate fan of Arsenal Football Club is active with Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, serving as the District Governor for District 38.
